Christiane Smith

Common Sense. Unfiltered Opinions.

A Voice for Regional WA.

Hello! I’m Christiane Smith — regional advocate, writer, and unapologetically honest voice on the issues that matter. This is where I share opinions, challenge double standards, and speak up for the people politics often forgets.

I’ve worked behind the scenes in government, run small businesses, and fought for regional voices that too often go unheard. I’m not aligned with any party — I’m aligned with people. This site is where I write honestly about the policies, problems, and ideas shaping our communities.

What I Stand For

You won’t find spin here. Just real-world experience, critical thinking, and care for the communities I’m part of. I believe in:

People Before Politics

The system should work for the people — not parties or headlines. I speak up for those who feel ignored, especially in regional areas.

Common-Sense Policy

Too often, rules are made by people with no skin in the game. I write about what works — and what doesn’t — from lived experience.

Honest Conversations

From women’s health to housing and volunteer fatigue, nothing is off limits. If it affects us, I’ll talk about it.

Respect for Regional Communities

I live here. I work here. I understand what’s at stake when city-led decisions don’t fit local realities. Our voice matters.

The Federal Department of Infrastructure is seeing feedback on a proposal to reduce the default speed limits on sealed and unsealed roads outside of built-up areas. But for those of us who live and work regionally, this proposal just doesn’t make sense. Driving...

The Calm Before the Cut

The night before my hysterectomy, I slept like a baby — meaning I woke at every sound, checked the clock a dozen times, and then couldn’t get up when it was finally time. I’d packed my hospital bag, scrubbed myself in the shower, double-checked my list, and laid out...
