The odds have stacked against Independents this election. It’s no secret that running without the backing of a major political party is one of the hardest paths to take. WA Labor made certain of that. But I’ve chosen this path because I believe it’s the right one— for my community, for my friends and family, and for Western Australia.
Comments like, “Why bother? Wouldn’t it be better to run with a party?” My response is simple: The major parties have rigged the system to limit our choices. That’s not democracy—it’s control. And I don’t accept it.
The Strength of Experience
I grew up the middle child in a family of 10 strong willed siblings. There are a few things I have learnt to do; communicate, negotiate, and make my voice heard.
In a household this busy and dynamic, you learn to listen—really listen. You learn the importance of compromise, care and thinking about others.
I learnt the importance of contributing to society through working; on the farm I learned the value of hard work and how crucial agriculture is to feeding the world. Working in state and local government, I saw firsthand how policies can either help or hinder people’s lives. In transport and small business, I experienced the daily struggle of keeping up with costs, finding work, and dealing with endless paperwork.
Volunteering is my heart. Giving back to this place I call home, and being part of community groups that help across the state, is good for my soul and mental health. I have always believed that if you don’t like it, you need to get involved to make a change, or at least help to fix it. Volunteering gets me out of my comfort zone, and gives me the opportunity to learn and meet people I would never usually meet. It is looking past myself and being part of something bigger.
These experiences have shaped who I am today and are part of why I’m running as an Independent. In parliament, we need people who can bring diverse perspectives together, listen to all sides, and find real solutions that work for our people.
A Broken System
We’re told our only choices are Labor or Liberal, but both parties put politics before people. Decisions are made to win elections, not to improve lives.
This is especially true for regional and rural WA, where issues are ignored in favour of metro-focused projects (cough, METRONET and those flashy new ferries). Meanwhile, our roads are crumbling, hospitals are underfunded, and small businesses are struggling.
Party politics tends to focus on what’s best for the party, not what’s best for you. I’ve seen firsthand how party loyalty can silence good ideas and force politicians to toe the line, even when their community asks them to fight for them.
So, Why am I Standing?
I’m running because I believe now more than ever, we need the power of people over politics. I believe that real change starts with real representation—listening to the people in our communities, acting on their concerns, and fighting for what matters most, even if it’s uncomfortable.
As an Independent, I’m not bound by party agendas. I’m free to stand up and fight for:
- Practical solutions that work: Tackling the housing crisis and cost of living pressures with practical measures.
- Fairer representation: Giving regional WA and real West Aussies a voice that won’t be drowned out by party-agenda and crooked policies.
- Accountability and transparency: Holding the government to account on spending, consultation, and decision-making. With multiple years of budget surpluses, why are we worse off? Why do we have any crisis, health, housing or cost of living? We must hold the government accountable.
The Odds Don’t Scare Me
Yes, it’s near impossible for an independent to win. The system is built to keep outsiders out. But change never happens by sticking with what’s easy. If we keep waiting for someone else to stand up, we’ll be waiting forever.
I believe people are tired of politics as usual, and are tired of the political BS. Tired of being told their concerns don’t matter because they don’t fit into a party’s agenda. Tired of being ignored by decision-makers who prioritise power over people. We’re constantly being told we don’t know how to care for our land, run our businesses, or grow our communities. That’s insulting..
A Voice for Change
This campaign isn’t about me—it’s about you. Your family. Your community. Your business. Your future.
The values I learned growing up in a big family, working in regional WA, and volunteering in my community have prepared me to listen, advocate, and take action. That’s what our government needs—leaders who value relationships, understand diversity, and know how to bring people together.
I know the challenges are steep. I know the odds are long. But I also know that change only happens when we try. When we stand up and say enough is enough. When we demand better from those in power and, more importantly, vote differently.
I’m running because West Australians deserve a voice that isn’t controlled by party politics. A voice that listens, speaks, and acts for the people. If you’re ready for something different—if you’re ready for a government that works for you, not the other way around—then join me. Let’s make this campaign so impactful that the major parties can’t ignore us. Let’s show them that even when the odds are stacked against us, real change is possible.
